Studying for a Bais Yaakov Test on Nitel Nacht

Question

I study in Bais Yaakov and have a test coming up in kodesh. Tonight is nitel nacht and I am afraid that if I don’t study, I will fail the test. Am I allowed to learn Torah on nitel nacht?

The Litvishe minhag is to study Torah on nitel nacht. This was the practice of my grandfather, Rav Chaim Leib, and my father, Rav Shlomo Zalman. Concerning your specific shailah, even if you would keep this practice, you would be allowed to study for your test, because women’s learning is not considered Torah study vis-à-vis the minhag of nitel nacht.
