Question
I am originally from Manchester and have been living in Eretz Yisroel for the past six years. My wife, who has been extremely dedicated to me during this time, would currently like to go back to England for two reasons. The first reason is that she is worried about the dangerous situation here in Eretz Yisroel. The frequent missile attacks were very hard for her, and now there is daily talk of an imminent attack from Iran. The second reason she wants to go back is that she does not have many friends here, and she misses her family and feels very lonely. Are these valid reasons to go back to England?
Rav Auerbach
The first reason you mentioned, concerning danger, is bubbe maasos. There are terrorists all around the world, and there is no reason to be afraid of terrorists in Eretz Yisroel more than in any other place. In fact, the Chofetz Chaim said that before Moshiach, the safest place in the world will be Eretz Yisroel.
However, the second reason you mentioned—that your wife is sad here and misses her family very much—is a valid one. A husband must make sure that his wife is happy, and if that means that she needs to be with her family, then you are obligated to take her feelings into consideration.
I give you a brocha that Hashem will guide you on the path that enables your wife to have true simchas hachaim.
